Australian studies

The Australian Centre's interdisciplinary teaching, research and outreach programs are committed to investigating Australian identity and issues of cultural and environmental diversity, with an emphasis on forms of public culture and public space. Under this overarching framework, the Centre focuses on exploring the interactions between Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultures, and examining Australia within comparative and global contexts.

Cultural materials conservation

'Cultural materials conservation' refers to the conservation of works or items of cultural, historical or scientific significance. The Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation offers postgraduate qualifications in conservation, with the cultural collections of the University providing a an invaluable teaching and research resource, and a unique student experience.

Jewish History & Culture

Hebrew and Jewish studies have been part of the fabric of teaching at the University of Melbourne since 1946. In order to make available to scholars, students and the public the riches and beauty of the Hebrew language and the Jewish tradition, Hebrew language courses are offered at four levels, from beginners to advanced. At the Centre for Jewish History & Culture, students can explore aspects of the Hebrew language and literature, Jewish history, film, culture, religion, literature, thought, society and politics.
