Role Responsibilities
Research Chair:
- Chair PhD confirmations
- Chair PhD examinations
- Chair School R&RT committee
- Sit on Faculty R&RT committee
- Sign as HOD on postgrad-related paperwork in SHS
- Academic responsibility for publications collection and Publications report
- Primary academic contact/responsibility for research student issues about supervision, resources, progress, etc.
- Oversight of research in School – liaise with Grants Coordinator and others
Deputy Research Chair:
- Chair MA 2nd Progress Report Reviews
- MA Chair of Examiners
- Assist Research Chair at times of pressure
PhD Completions coordinator:
- PhD 2 year reviews (and remaining 2.5 yr reviews)
- Professional development programs for PhD students in 2nd semester
- APD mentoring
Discipline postgraduate coordinators:
- Some liaison with postgrad students in the discipline area
- Sit on SHS postgraduate subcommittee
- Assist School Research Chair during application season with locating appropriate supervisors and responding to potential applicants
